This position is located near Alameda, CA, serving a diverse caseload of students aged TK through 22 across 15 school sites. With a 35-hour workweek, you’ll have the ability to make a direct impact throughout the academic year from August 7th to June 4th.
Key Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid credential in Deaf/Hard of Hearing education (DHH Specialist or Teacher certification required)
- Demonstrated experience supporting students with varying degrees of hearing loss, from preschool through transition-age (up to age 22)
- Comprehensive knowledge of individualized education plans (IEPs), assessment, and assistive technology
- Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills for partnership with educators, families, and service providers
Responsibilities Include:
- Develop and implement specialized instruction tailored to the unique needs of Deaf and Hard of Hearing students
- Serve a caseload of 20–28 students distributed among 15 school sites
- Conduct thorough assessments and participate in IEP meetings, contributing expert recommendations and data
- Provide support, resources, and consultation to general education staff, fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment
- Monitor student progress, adjusting teaching strategies to maximize success and independence
- Integrate the use of amplification devices and other assistive technology as appropriate
