Taproom Manager, Headlands Brewing Walnut Creek

As Taproom Manager, you'll lead our busiest and fastest-growing location. You'll build and inspire a high-performing team that delivers warm, authentic hospitality while creating the systems and culture that make great service look effortless. Whether it's a busy Friday night or a large corporate event, you'll set the standard through your leadership.
More than running shifts, you'll become an ambassador for Headlands within the Walnut Creek community, building relationships with guests, local businesses, and community partners while helping make our Beer Garden the go-to destination for gatherings of all kinds.

POSITION SUMMARY – Taproom Manager, Headlands Walnut Creek
As Taproom Manager you are the key day-to-day face of Headlands Walnut Creek. You are responsible for several areas of Front of House Operations, including but not limited to:
- Exemplifying Headlands culture and values
- Providing leadership and supervision to staff, ensuring a high quality of performance
- Managing and training the taproom staff, including: recruiting, training, motivation, scheduling, performance reviews, disciplinary actions, and terminations
- Ensuring that all employees are provided with clear and concise work instructions, and that all daily supervisors understand performance requirements
- Running FOH Service
- Offering oversight and guidance for our Beer Deputy and assisting with the Beverage Program as needed
- Oversight / management of all labor costs and COGs
- Oversight of all employee paperwork
- Ordering, purchasing and inventory management of items required for operations
- Cash handling & bank deposits
- Developing, marketing and selling events and catering menus and packages, in conjunction with our Kitchen Manager.
- Training FOH team members including but not limited to the following:
- Customer service
- Steps of service
- Upselling
- Employee relations and company culture
- Food and beverage knowledge
- Developing strong relationships with our strategic partners at UC Berkeley
- Managing all private and public onsite events
- Submitting all FOH schedules for approval
- Organizing and overseeing employee reviews (at a minimum, annually)
REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a bar, restaurant or taproom environment, with at least 3 years of management experience
- Strong knowledge of beer, wine, spirits and cocktails, and ability to train other staff on serving standards and customer communication
- Superior people skills and the ability to clearly communicate via verbal, written, and phone communications
- Excellent analytical, observational, and overall exemplary people and communication skills with all internal and external stakeholders
- Strong software skills/experience in, but not limited to: MS Office, Google Drive, Slack, Asana
- Strong knowledge of, and experience in, building revenue streams. Such as: events, reservations, catering on site and offsite, etc.
- Proven ability to prioritize and balance multiple tasks in a busy work environment
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem solving abilities
- A passion for the craft beer industry, and all that is great about the Bay Area
- Extensive POS / inventory experience including programing, reporting, service flow, etc (ideally with TOAST / xtraCHEF)
- Able to stand for long periods of time as shifts can be up to 8 hours with breaks
- Able to lift up to 30lbs will twisting and turning (beer cases, glass racks, etc)
- Reliable transportation to work
- Comfortable working in loud environments with moderate to medium amounts of noise
COMPENSATION PACKAGE
- Full Time Non Exempt Hourly Position - $25 per hour in service shifts, and $30 per hour for administrative work.
- Participation in tip pool while in service
