If you love dogs, this is the job for you! Yuppy Puppy in Lake Bluff is looking for a reliable, enthusiastic, and dog-loving team member to join us as a kennel attendant. Please do not apply if you are still in high school. This role combines managing dog playgroups with general facility care, ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, loves working hands-on with dogs, and can keep things running smoothly behind the scenes.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise and rotate dogs safely into and out of playgroups
- Monitor dog behavior and play to ensure a safe, positive environment
- Assist kennel attendants with feeding, cleaning, and dog care for boarding dogs
- Help run dogs to and from group, kennels, or customer pickup
- Perform general cleaning tasks (vacuuming, mopping, dishes, restrooms, laundry, and waste cleanup)
- Maintain facility standards of cleanliness and organization
- Assist with occasional front desk and customer interactions
- Communicate effectively with team members and remain calm under pressure
Qualifications:
- MUST love dogs and be comfortable working hands-on with them daily
- Prior experience in dog care or playgroup management preferred (training provided for the right candidate)
- Dependable, on-time, and able to multitask in a busy environment
- Positive, outgoing personality with strong teamwork skills
- Able to handle large dogs, lift up to 50 lbs, and perform medium-duty cleaning
- Reliable transportation required
- Flexible availability, including weekends and evenings (shifts typically 6:30 AM–1:30 PM or 12:30 PM–7:30 PM; occasional 8 AM–4 PM facility coverage)
- Able to pass a background check
Schedule & Availability:
- Weekend shifts required
- Mix of morning and evening shifts, plus occasional daytime facility coverage
