Summary
The EERS Controls Technician installs, programs, commissions, troubleshoots, and services Building Automation Systems (BAS) and controls technology for commercial facilities. This role helps customers improve comfort, building performance, and energy efficiency through reliable controls solutions. Work is performed with a focus on accurate diagnostics, responsive communication, quality service, and customer satisfaction.
Duties Include:

Install, service, troubleshoot, and maintain HVAC control systems and related building automation equipment.

Program, configure, and commission Building Automation Systems (BAS) as assigned.

Diagnose system performance issues and implement corrective actions.

Configure controllers, sensors, actuators, communication networks, and related field devices.

Perform preventative maintenance, system checkout, testing, and optimization activities.

Interpret wiring diagrams, control drawings, electrical diagrams, and sequences of operation.

Support energy savings, customer comfort, and operational improvement initiatives.

Train or guide customers on system functionality and basic best practices as appropriate.

Document work performed, material use, service activity, and project updates accurately and timely.

Maintain knowledge of controls technology, codes, standards, and industry best practices.
Job Qualifications & Physical Requirements

Must demonstrate a strong understanding of HVAC system operation, control strategies, BAS equipment, and controls troubleshooting.

Must be able to read and apply control drawings, wiring diagrams, electrical diagrams, and sequences of operation.

Must have strong computer, software, and diagnostic skills and be able to communicate technical information in a clear and credible manner.

Must be capable of working in mechanical rooms, rooftops, occupied customer facilities, and varying indoor and outdoor conditions.

Must be capable of exerting physical effort required for field work, including lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs., climbing ladders, working at elevated heights, bending, reaching, standing, walking, and safely using hand tools, testing equipment, and laptops.

Hearing, vision, depth perception, and communication abilities must be sufficient to safely troubleshoot systems, receive instructions, identify hazards, and communicate with customers and team members.
Requirements:

High school diploma or GED

3+ years of experience with Building Automation Systems, controls, or HVAC controls

Valid Driver’s License and acceptable driving record

Strong computer and software skills

Ability to pass required background check and drug screening requirements
Education and Experience:
-
Associate degree in Electronics, Engineering Technology, HVAC, or related field preferred.

Experience with Tridium Niagara, Distech, Johnson Controls, Siemens, Schneider Electric, Alerto, Honeywell, or similar systems
- Experience commissioning and programming BAS systems preferred.

Networking knowledge including TCP/IP, BACnet, and Modbus preferred.

Niagara N4 certification or equivalent industry certification preferred.
