We are seeking a highly organized and proactive Maintenance Planner to support equipment maintenance operations in Elko, Nevada. This position is responsible for planning, scheduling, and coordinating preventive and corrective maintenance activities for a large fleet of heavy equipment. The Maintenance Planner works closely with maintenance supervisors, technicians, and operations to maximize equipment uptime, improve maintenance efficiency, and ensure work is completed safely and on schedule.
The ideal candidate has experience planning maintenance in a mining, heavy equipment, construction, or industrial environment and is comfortable managing work orders, maintenance schedules, parts coordination, and equipment history.
- Develop and maintain preventive maintenance schedules for heavy equipment and support vehicles.
- Plan and schedule maintenance work to maximize equipment availability while minimizing downtime.
- Create detailed work orders, job plans, labor estimates, and parts requirements.
- Coordinate with maintenance supervisors, technicians, and operations to prioritize repairs based on equipment needs.
- Ensure required parts, tools, and materials are available before scheduled maintenance begins.
- Monitor equipment service intervals and preventive maintenance compliance.
- Track equipment history, repair records, and maintenance costs within the CMMS.
- Work closely with purchasing and inventory personnel to maintain appropriate spare parts levels.
- Review completed work orders for accuracy and proper documentation.
- Analyze maintenance data and identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability and maintenance efficiency.
- Assist in planning major component replacements, shutdowns, and equipment rebuilds.
- Maintain accurate maintenance documentation and ensure compliance with company safety policies and applicable regulations.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on reliability, productivity, and cost reduction.
- 3+ years of experience in maintenance planning, maintenance coordination, or heavy equipment maintenance.
- Experience in mining, heavy civil construction, aggregate, industrial, or similar industries preferred.
- Strong understanding of preventive and predictive maintenance practices.
- Experience working with heavy equipment such as excavators, haul trucks, loaders, dozers, graders, crushers, conveyors, and support equipment.
- Experience using CMMS or fleet maintenance software.
- Strong organizational, scheduling, and planning skills.
- Ability to prioritize multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Experience supporting maintenance operations in a mining environment.
- Knowledge of equipment reliability and maintenance best practices.
- Experience with inventory management and spare parts planning.
- Familiarity with maintenance KPIs such as equipment availability, PM compliance, MTBF, and MTTR.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
