MyTeam Medical Staffing is seeking to place a dedicated and detail-oriented Triage Medical Assistant to join a specialty healthcare team. The ideal Triage Medical Assistant will have a strong foundation in patient care, clinical experience and knowledge, and administrative support within a fast-paced healthcare environment, along with a minimum of three (3) years of current Medical Assistant experience.
This is an administrative role requiring a MA with clinical experience. In this role, the Triage Medical Assistant will determine patient needs using established clinical protocols, prioritize patient concerns appropriately, and help ensure an efficient workflow throughout the clinic. This position plays a vital role in delivering timely, high-quality, and compassionate patient care while maintaining compliance with safety standards, clinical guidelines, and regulatory requirements.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Graduate of a medical assisting program, or a minimum of 5 years of current hands on experience in lieu of schooling.
- Medical Assistant Certification, for example, CMA (AAMA), RMA (AMT), NCMA, CCMA, etc.
- Strong computer skills within a Microsoft environment
- Electronic medical record experience with strong documenting proficiency
- Medical Terminology
- Strong verbal and written communication
- Ability to work independently.
JOB DUTIES
- Communicates professionally and with compassion via phone and EMR patient portal.
- Ability to ensure proper punctuation and grammar for effective communication with providers/staff.
- Formulates symptom management responses quickly and calmly, including making appointments on the spot, filling orders at the time, submitting prescriptions immediately, effectively using a “one-touch” system.
- Responds to patient calls, including voicemails, and prioritizes incoming patient messages based on triage need, ensuring that patients needs are routed properly to the correct source.
- Answers inbound calls of at least 40 per day.
- Appropriately researches patients records via EMR and patient portal to ensure clear understanding of patient needs.
- Performs all callbacks as requested by the clinical team, patients and providers as needed.
- Documents all communications with the patient into the medical record, ensuring compliance with regulations, certification standards, legal and ethical standards according to policies and procedures.
- Evaluates the need for prescription refills, effectiveness of medication, or medication changes and submits prescriptions when appropriate. Takes the initiative to request signing rights when needed.
- Assists medical records in completing leave paperwork when needed, including but not limited to FMLA, OFLA, STD and Oregon Paid Family Leave.
- Provides clinical support when needed.
- Perform other duties as needed and assigned.
Pay: $23.00 - $25.00 per hour
