SSS Houses At-Risk Intervention Response Bureau, Black Education, Hispanic Education; Safe and Healthy Schools Bureau; Student Success and Wellness; and Title I: Student, School and Family Support Bureau. Leadership and oversight of all state and federal education acts also lives under the SSS umbrella.
Why does the job exist?
The position provides technical assistance, consultation, and support to Local Education Agencies (LEAs) regarding educational programs and services for at-risk student populations. This position supports continuous improvement efforts by assisting LEAs in developing, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating educational plans, accreditation processes, and compliance with federal, state, and local requirements. The specialist collaborates with school districts, administrators, and educational stakeholders to ensure effective educational standards, policies, procedures, and planning strategies are in place to improve outcomes for at-risk students.
How does it get done?
Technical Assistance and Consultation to LEAs
Provide guidance and support to LEAs regarding at-risk programming, educational planning, accreditation requirements, compliance, and continuous improvement efforts.
Accreditation and Educational Plan Monitoring
Coordinate, review, and monitor Educational Plans and accreditation processes to ensure timely completion and compliance with established standards.
Compliance Monitoring and Program Oversight
Monitor LEA compliance with federal, state, and local statutes, regulations, policies, and procedures related to at-risk student services and educational programs.
Professional Development and Workshops
Develop and conduct workshops, training, and staff development activities related to accreditation, educational planning, continuous improvement, and at-risk student groups.
Educational Planning and Continuous Improvement Support
Assist LEAs with planning strategies, school improvement initiatives, program evaluation methods, and implementation of continuous improvement processes.
Evaluation and Data Analysis
Assist with evaluation plans, review educational data, analyze program effectiveness, and provide recommendations for improvement.
Reporting, Documentation, and Collaboration
Prepare reports, maintain records, collaborate with stakeholders, attend meetings, and support departmental initiatives and special projects.

Minimum Qualification
Bachelor's degree in Education, Public Administration, or Business Administration and four (4) years of experience as a teacher and/or program administrator. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling eight (8) years may substitute for the required education and experience.
Employment Requirements
Must possess and maintain a valid New Mexico's Driver's License.
Working Conditions
Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage. Some sitting, standing, bending and reaching may be required. Some occasional travel is required for meetings and conferences.
