Vacancy Notice
In accordance with Act 2018-260, Hartselle City Schools posts a notice of vacancy for each vacant personnel position.
The notice shall be posted in a conspicuous place at the Central Office for at least 7 calendar days for all
non-supervisory positions before the position is to be filled. All vacancies involving jobs which are supervisory, managerial, or
otherwise newly created positions shall nevertheless require posting notices of at least fourteen calendar days. The notice
shall include, but not necessarily be limited to, all of the following:
1. Job description and title
2. Required qualifications
3. Salary schedule and amount
4. Information on where to submit an application
5. Information on any deadlines for applying
The posting of a vacancy notice as required in this policy shall not be abridged or delayed except in dire emergency
circumstances and then delayed only temporarily in order to reasonably meet the conditions of the emergency.

Title: Assistant Principal
Qualifications:
1. Valid Alabama Education Leadership Certificate
2. Valid Alabama Education Certification for either the elementary or secondary
level.
3. At least three years of successful experience as a classroom teacher.
4. Such alternatives or additional qualifications as the Board of Education may find
appropriate and acceptable.
Reports to: Principal
Contract: 12 Months FLSA: Exempt
Job Goal: To assist the principal in carrying out instructional and administrative
duties of the school. Serves in areas as directed by the Principal.
Performance Responsibilities:
1. Instructional Leadership
- Assist in providing overall leadership and vision for academic excellence at the
elementary school level.
- Assist with the development, implementation, and evaluation of curriculum and
instructional programs aligned to state standards.
- Monitor student achievement and assist with school improvement initiatives
focused on academic growth and readiness for elementary students.
- Promote high expectations for teaching and learning across all content areas.
2. Staff Supervision and Development
- Assist Principal to recruit, hire, supervise, and evaluate certified and classified staff.
- Conduct classroom observations and provide constructive feedback focused on
elementary grades instructional best practices.
- Support ongoing professional development in early learning, engagement,
and instructional strategies.
- Foster a collaborative and positive work environment.
3. School Operations and Management
- Oversee daily school operations and building management as assigned by the
principal.
- Assist with maintenance of facilities and campus safety.
- Assist with the coordination of scheduling, staffing, and resource allocation to
support effective instruction and intervention.
4. Student Discipline and School Climate
- Enforce the student code of conduct fairly and consistently.
- Promote a safe, structured, and respectful learning environment appropriate for
elementary students.
- Address student behavioral concerns using positive behavior supports and
restorative practices when appropriate.
- Support student attendance initiatives and early intervention strategies.
5. Communication and Community Relations
- Assist the principal with effective communication.
- Maintain open communication with students, parents, staff, and
community members.
- Build positive relationships with families and community partners.
- Assist with parent meetings, staff meetings, and school events.
6. Policy Implementation and Compliance
- Ensure compliance with district, state, and federal regulations.
- Assist with the implementation of board policies and district initiatives.
- Maintain accurate records and required reports.
7. Data Analysis and Accountability
- Analyze student performance data to guide instructional decisions and targeted
interventions.
- Assist with the development and monitoring of school improvement plans.
- Ensure accountability measures are met and students are prepared for success.
8. Extracurricular and Co-Curricular Oversight
- Supervise and support athletics, clubs, and extracurricular programs appropriate for
elementary students.
- Encourage student participation and school engagement.
- Promote a well-rounded elementary educational experience.
9. Leadership and Professional Responsibilities
- Model professionalism, integrity, and ethical leadership.
- Participate in district leadership meetings and professional
organizations.
- Engage in continuous professional growth.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal/Superintendent.
EVALUATION
Performance evaluation shall be in accordance with the provisions of the Board's
policies and administrative procedures and guidelines.
