Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced and strategic HR Director to lead our HR function in a dynamic manufacturing environment where safety, compliance, and operational excellence are paramount. You'll develop HR strategies that support our production goals while fostering a culture of safety, continuous improvement, and employee engagement.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop HR strategies aligned with manufacturing operations and safety requirements
- Implement and oversee safety training programs and workplace safety compliance
- Lead blue-collar and skilled trades recruitment to include job posting, candidate screening, interviewing, and onboarding processes.
- Manage retention efforts
- Develop and oversee performance review processes, provide coaching guidance to managers, and develop improvement plans.
- Manage salary administration, benefits enrollment, and work with other upper-level management to enhance current compensation and benefits programs
- Implement training and development programs, succession planning and leadership development initiatives
- Implement and oversee HR Information Systems, ensure data accuracy, and generate analytics reports for leadership
- Ensure adherence to employment laws, conduct regular audits, and manage documentation for legal protection
- Ensure compliance with OSHA and manufacturing-specific regulations
- Lead workforce planning for seasonal production demands
- Manage employee relations in manufacturing environment
- Oversee workers' compensation and industrial safety programs
- Develop succession planning for critical manufacturing, and administrative roles
- Partner with operations, and senior management on productivity and efficiency initiatives
- The position has one direct report: the HR Generalist, who supports day-to-day HR operations, including recruiting coordination, onboarding, employee relations support, HRIS/data maintenance, benefits administration, compliance documentation, and general employee service needs.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in HR, Industrial Relations, or related field
- SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP) – Competency-based HR certification is preferred, measurable experience accepted
- 6-9 years of HR experience in manufacturing, or industrial environment
- Upholstered furniture experience a plus
- Strong knowledge of labor relations
- Experience with OSHA compliance and workplace safety regulations
- Understanding of manufacturing operations and production environments
- Experience with white and blue-collar workforce management
- Strong crisis management and problem-solving skills
- Knowledge of workers' compensation and industrial insurance
- Excellent negotiation and conflict resolution abilities
- ADP experience a plus
