Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our finance team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for managing core accounting functions, ensuring compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles), and supporting financial reporting processes. Duties
- Prepare and enter daily, weekly, and monthly journal entries accurately and timely.
- Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, including invoice entry, payment tracking, customer/vendor records, and supporting documentation.
- Reconcile bank accounts, credit card accounts, cash accounts, and other balance sheet accounts.
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing procedures.
- Maintain accurate accounting records across multiple entities and departments.
- Support intercompany transaction tracking, reconciliation, and documentation.
- Assist with expense categorization, general ledger review, and account analysis.
- Organize and maintain accounting documents, invoices, receipts, statements, and supporting records.
- Assist with sales reports, tax-related schedules, and other financial reports as needed.
- Support cannabis-related accounting records, including distribution, retail, cultivation, and inventory-related documentation.
- Assist with audits, compliance requests, tax filings, and financial documentation requests.
- Communicate with vendors, customers, internal departments, and management regarding accounting-related matters.
- Maintain confidentiality of company financial information and employee/vendor/customer records.
- Perform other duties as assigned based on business and operational needs.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or CPA candidate preferred.
- Proven experience in corporate accounting, governmental accounting, or public accounting environments.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP standards and technical accounting principles.
- Proficiency with financial software such as QuickBooks.
- Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel for data analysis and spreadsheet management.
- Familiarity with account reconciliation processes, journal entries, and double-entry bookkeeping practices.
- Excellent numeracy skills combined with attention to detail and organizational abilities.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently while maintaining accuracy under tight deadlines.
