Job Overview
We are seeking a motivated and reliable OTR (Over-the-Road) Box Truck Driver to join our dynamic transportation team. In this role, you will be responsible for safely operating a box truck to deliver goods efficiently across designated routes. Requirements
- At least 2 years of verifiable over-the-road driving experience with a box truck or similar vehicle
- Clean driving record required with no speeding tickets in the last 2 years. No super speeding tickets (i.e., speeding over 15 mph above the limit)
- A valid Medical Examiner’s Certificate (Med Card)
- Must be comfortable sleeping in truck
Duties
- Safely operate a box truck for local and regional deliveries, adhering strictly to DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations and traffic laws.
- Load and unload cargo using manual handling techniques and material handling equipment such as pallet jacks and forklifts when necessary.
- Manage delivery routes efficiently, ensuring timely pickups and drop-offs while maintaining accurate delivery documentation.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers, customers, and team members via mobile devices to coordinate deliveries and resolve issues promptly.
- Conduct pre-trip inspections of the vehicle, checking for mechanical issues, proper load securement, and compliance with safety standards.
- Handle heavy lifting safely during loading/unloading processes, following safe lifting practices to prevent injuries.
- Maintain warehouse operations by assisting with inventory management, material handling, and supporting warehouse staff as needed.
- Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, fuel purchases, maintenance records, and other required paperwork (using electronic logging devices as required).
Experience
- Proven experience in commercial driving, delivery driving, or courier roles involving box trucks or similar vehicles.
- Warehouse experience with familiarity in warehouse operations, manual handling, and material handling equipment operation such as forklifts and pallet jacks.
- Knowledge of driving regulations including adherence to DOT standards, weight handling in the workplace, and safe driving practices with manual transmission vehicles.
- Demonstrated ability to load & unload cargo efficiently while maintaining safety standards.
- Customer service experience with a focus on professionalism and effective communication during deliveries.
- Experience in route driving within urban or regional areas using mobile devices for navigation and communication is preferred.
What we cover?
Fuel, insurance, and maintenance costs will be covered by the company. Other expenses (e.g., tolls) may be deducted or reimbursed according to the company policy.
Compensation
You will receive 20% of weekly revenue generated by the truck. The more successful the week, the higher your earnings.
