Responsibilities
- Efficiently wash dishes, utensils, cookware, and kitchen equipment using proper dishwashing techniques and sanitizing procedures
- Assist with basic food preparation tasks such as chopping, peeling, and assembling ingredients under supervision
- Maintain cleanliness of all kitchen areas including counters, floors, sinks, and storage spaces in compliance with sanitation standards
- Support bussing duties by clearing tables and removing used dishes to ensure a tidy dining environment
- Operate kitchen equipment safely and correctly, including dishwashers, food processors, and other small appliances
- Follow food safety management practices to prevent contamination and ensure proper handling of food items
- Assist with heavy lifting tasks such as moving supplies or bulk ingredients while adhering to manual handling safety guidelines
Requirements
- Prior experience in food service or restaurant environments is preferred but not mandatory; enthusiasm to learn is essential
- Knowledge of food safety sanitizing procedures and sanitation standards in commercial kitchens
- Ability to perform manual handling tasks safely, including lifting heavy items when necessary
- Strong attention to detail in maintaining cleanliness and organization within the kitchen environment
- Basic knife skills for assisting with food prep tasks are a plus
- Excellent teamwork skills and a positive attitude to support a fast-paced kitchen atmosphere
