Position Summary
We are seeking a hands-on Assistant Shop Supervisor to support daily operations in our San Marcos coating facility. This role works closely with the Shop Supervisor to manage workflow, lead technicians, maintain quality standards, and ensure jobs are completed safely and on schedule.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with shop, production, or industrial experience looking to step into a leadership role.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in supervising daily shop operations and production workflow
- Lead and support technicians with surface prep and coating applications
- Help schedule jobs, allocate labor, and manage priorities
- Ensure quality control standards are met on all work
- Maintain inventory of materials, coatings, and supplies
- Coordinate incoming/outgoing equipment with shipping & receiving
- Train and mentor shop technicians
- Enforce safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized shop
- Step in as acting supervisor when needed
Qualifications
- 2–5 years of experience in a shop, warehouse, or industrial environment
- Previous leadership or lead/foreman experience preferred
- Experience with coatings, sandblasting, or industrial finishing is a plus
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
- Forklift experience (or willingness to get certified)
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work in a hands-on environment
- Basic computer skills (inventory systems, Excel, etc.)
- Reliable, detail-oriented, and team-focused
