Steps and lanes for 2026-2027 can be found here.Individual placement is contingent upon review and approval of education and experience.Candidates with diverse racial, ethnic, cultural, religious, class, and/or gender backgrounds and experiences are strongly encouraged to apply.Find more information about Shrewsbury Public Schools athttps://schools.shrewsburyma.govEssential Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Provide individual and group counseling support to students regarding social, emotional, and academic issues Lead the implementation of the My Career and Academic Plan (MyCAP) framework for 7th and 8th grade students and support academic planning and career awareness for students Coordinate 8th grade student activities related to moving up to high school, including informational sessions, the course selection process for Shrewsbury High School, and managing the student application process for those applying to vocational technical high school and private high schools Serve as the liaison to the SHS School Counseling department Organize the transition activities and school orientation for incoming 7th grade students Deliver school counseling curriculum in a classroom setting Participate as necessary in the team evaluation process for students receiving special education services and 504 accommodations Consult and collaborate with the school administration, school adjustment counselors, the district social worker, parents/guardians, and relevant community agencies to support student facing challenges that impact their academic, social, emotional, and behavioral progress Other tasks as assigned by the Principal, Director of Career Technical Education, or Director of Counseling and Mental Health ServicesRequirements: Dual licensure as a School Counselor and School Guidance Counselor, Grades 5-12, from the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education is required Experience or familiarity with the My Career and Academic Plan (MyCAP) framework or similar academic and career planning approaches Experience and/or training in meeting the counseling needs of a diverse population of students Strong Collaboration and communication skills Strong knowledge of middle school student needs and behaviors Exhibits the values of Shrewsbury Public Schools Must be able to work flexibly in a changing environmentApplication Process: Interested candidates should submit a cover letter, resume, official or unofficial copies of undergraduate/graduate transcripts, license # or unofficial copy of license if applicable, and three current professional letters of reference, including one from a direct supervisor, professor, or evaluator.Please apply via www.schoolspring.comThe Shrewsbury Public Schools is an affirmative action employer, ensuring that its programs and facilities are accessible to the public.
