Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Registered Dietitian to join our healthcare team on a per diem basis. The ideal candidate will possess a comprehensive understanding of clinical nutrition, with a focus on providing personalized nutritional care and support to diverse patient populations. This role offers an opportunity to apply your expertise in medical nutrition therapy, chronic disease management, and nutrition counseling within a dynamic healthcare environment. As a Registered Dietitian, you will collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement effective care plans that promote optimal health outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough patient assessments to evaluate nutritional status, dietary needs, and health goals, including those with specific dietary restrictions or medical conditions.
- Develop, implement, and monitor individualized nutrition care plans tailored to each patient's medical diagnosis and nutritional requirements.
- Provide comprehensive nutrition counseling utilizing motivational interviewing techniques to motivate behavioral change and improve patient adherence.
- Manage complex nutrition support interventions such as tube feeding, parenteral nutrition, and other specialized therapies in accordance with clinical guidelines.
- Collaborate effectively with healthcare professionals including physicians, nurses, and therapists to coordinate care and optimize patient outcomes.
- Document all interventions accurately within electronic health records (EHR/EHR systems) while ensuring compliance with privacy regulations.
- Educate patients and their families about nutrition-related topics pertinent to their health conditions, including weight management, chronic disease control, and geriatrics.
- Supervise or mentor junior staff or interns when applicable, fostering a collaborative team environment focused on continuous improvement.
Experience
- Proven experience working as a Registered Dietitian in clinical settings such as hospitals, long-term care facilities, or outpatient clinics.
- Strong knowledge of physiology as it relates to digestion, metabolism, and overall human health.
- Hands-on experience managing nutritional support procedures such as tube feeding and parenteral nutrition.
- Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) systems for documentation and care coordination purposes.
- Prior experience supervising or mentoring dietetic interns or junior staff members is preferred.
- Background in managing dietary needs for diverse populations including geriatrics and patients with chronic illnesses or acute care requirements.
