Role Overview
Looking to move quick - Opening for a Mechanical Assembly Technician (PIEZO) to join the advanced manufacturing team in Shrewsbury, MA. This is a full-time, temp-to-hire position with the opportunity to transition to a permanent role after 90 days based on performance and attendance. This role focuses on the assembly of small-scale, high-precision motion instruments, including piezo assemblies, in a quality-driven manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform precision mechanical assembly of small devices requiring alignment and metrology
- Solder small gauge wires (28–36 gauge)
- Use microscopes for fine assembly, alignment, and soldering tasks
- Interpret mechanical drawings, schematics, and technical documentation
- Complete assembly and metrology records to meet quality and regulatory standards
- Utilize tools such as multi-meters, wire strippers, and standard assembly equipment
- Follow 5S and Lean manufacturing practices in an ISO 9001 environment
- Use basic computer applications (Word, Excel, email) for documentation and communication
Qualifications
- Experience with complex mechanical assembly and precision measurements
- Moderate soldering experience required (J-STD-001 certification preferred)
- Familiarity with precision alignment tools and techniques
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work under a microscope
- Good communication, organization, and time management skills
- Ability to multitask and prioritize workload effectively
- US Citizenship required
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Associate degree or technical certification in a related field preferred
