Compensation: $120,000-$175,000 per year
Schedule: Monday - Friday; regular business hours
Summary
This is a hands-on, generalist attorney role supporting COMC’s General Counsel across a broad range of legal and operational matters. You'll report directly to the GC and you will serve as a key member of a lean legal team, taking ownership of day-to-day legal workstreams while operating in close coordination with the GC in on complex issues, major decisions, and company-wide priorities.
The ideal candidate moves fluidly between drafting a vendor contract, building a compliance checklist, standing up an intake process, and advising on an employment matter and knows when to drive a matter independently versus when to escalate to the GC. This is not a traditional law firm role. You'll own your work end-to-end and help build out the legal function of a growing company alongside a GC who's invested in your development.
Responsibilities/Duties
Contract Management & Transactional Work

Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements including vendor contracts, MSAs, NDAs, SaaS/technology agreements, consignment and marketplace agreements, licensing deals, and product terms of service
- Maintain and own the contract lifecycle — from intake through execution, storage, and renewal tracking
- Develop and maintain standard form agreements and playbooks to reduce turnaround time
- Support M&A and financing transactions as needed (diligence, rep/warranty review, ancillary documents)
- Draft and maintain consumer-facing product terms including terms of service, terms of sale, buyer and seller policies, and platform usage agreements
Legal Operations & Process Building
- Design and implement scalable legal operations infrastructure: matter tracking, intake workflows, contract repository, and vendor management
- Identify and implement legal tech solutions (CLM, e-signature, project management tooling)
- Build and maintain legal SOPs, policy templates, and internal guidance documents
- Coordinate with outside counsel on complex matters and manage billing/budget
Compliance & Risk Management
- Monitor and advise on regulatory compliance across key areas including privacy, employment, e-commerce, marketplace
- Support IP protection efforts including trademark registration, enforcement, and licensing
- Advise on data privacy obligations, vendor due diligence, and cybersecurity-related legal issues
- Support compliance with federal and state regulations applicable to warehouse, fulfillment, and marketplace operations
Employment & HR Support
- Review and draft offer letters, employment agreements, and contractor agreements,
- Advise on day-to-day employment matters including performance, termination, accommodation requests, and policy questions
- Partner with HR/People team on handbook updates, leave policies, and compliance with multi-state employment laws
Corporate Governance & General Legal Support
- Manage corporate governance records, insurance, and entity maintenance
- Handle legal correspondence, demand letters, pre-litigation and litigation matters
- Provide ad hoc legal research and guidance to cross-functional stakeholders
- Support real estate matters including lease review and facilities-related legal questions
Skills & Qualifications
- Strong organizational and project management skills, able to track many simultaneous workstreams without dropping balls
- Comfort operating with minimal supervision and building from scratch
- Clear, concise written and verbal communication for both legal and non-legal audiences

Sound legal judgment, including the ability to determine when to handle a matter independently versus when to escalate to the GC
- Ability to translate complex legal concepts into practical guidance for non-legal stakeholders across functions (HR, finance, operations, product)
- Strong drafting skills across a range of document types, from commercial contracts to internal policies and SOPs
- Ability to manage competing priorities and shifting workstreams in a fast-paced, resource-lean environment
- Discretion and sound judgment in handling sensitive or confidential matters
- Business-minded approach to legal risk, balancing legal protection with practical commercial needs

Interest in or knowledge of collectibles, trading cards, or the secondary market ecosystem, preferred
Education & Experience
- J.D. from an accredited law school and active bar membership in good standing (Washington State preferred; other jurisdictions considered)

3+ years of relevant legal experience, including at least some time in-house, at a startup, or in a practice area with heavy transactional and operational exposure

Demonstrated experience drafting and negotiating commercial contracts independently

Prior in-house experience at a startup, e-commerce company, or marketplace platform, preferred

Exposure to privacy compliance (CCPA/CPRA, GDPR basics), preferred

Familiarity with WA employment law, multi-state compliance, or regulatory ,frameworks applicable to e-commerce and fulfillment operations, preferred

Experience with warehouse, logistics, or fulfillment regulatory frameworks, preferred

Hands-on experience implementing or managing legal technology (CLM, DocuSign, legal intake tools), preferred
