About this position:
We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated Utility Coordinator to join our team. As a Utility Coordinator you will play a key role in coordinating utility relocations, conducting site visits, analyzing utility plans, developing utility layouts and exhibits and collaborating with project teams on multiple high profile transportation projects. Your expertise and attention to detail will be crucial in ensuring the successful completion of these projects while adhering to strict standards and regulations. This is an exciting opportunity for a talented individual to collaborate and contribute with the private and public sector in the development of innovative and sustainable solutions in the field of civil engineering. Current project needs are in the Austin metro area and beyond including but not limited to Mobility 35 (IH 35 roadway expansion) and the Light Rail Project.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop existing utility layouts, proposed utility layouts, conflict analysis, conflict matrix.
- Planning and prioritizing workload and duties
- Collaborate with all design disciplines to minimize or reduce utility relocations.
- Collaborate to resolve utility conflicts in major constrained ROW and utility corridors.
- QA/QC of work prior to sending to Professional Engineer for review.
- Assist with review of colleagues work prior to sending to the professional engineer.
- Assist with development of training material and process documentation
- Ability to review SUE information, As Builts, and utilize it to review conflicts with proposed roadway design.
- Review roadway design files in PDF and CAD software to identify changes in design. Present changes to Engineer to discuss affects to proposed utility plans.
- Conduct site investigations and surveys to collect data for project feasibility studies
- Prepare cost estimates and project timelines
- Ensure compliance with local building codes and regulations
- Provide input on constructibility challenges with utility relocations.
- Knowledge of Google Earth, Microsoft products and general programs utilized in work environment
- Ability to provide guidance and help with the development of the team.
- Ability to meet strict deadlines, deal with changing priorities, and work with minimal direction
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Bentley OpenRoads (a Plus!) and other relevant design software
- Strong knowledge of civil engineering principles and practices
- Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking skills
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Detail-oriented and able to work independently or as part of a team
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Demonstrated attention to detail
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in related field or relevant experience
- 3+ years of relevant experience utility coordination in the transportation sector.
- Knowledge and experience with Microstation V8i (must have), Open Roads and other applicable software (plus)
