Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Water Jet Operator to join our manufacturing team. In this role, you will operate and maintain water jet cutting equipment to precisely cut a variety of materials, ensuring high-quality outputs that meet production specifications. Your expertise in CNC programming, blueprint reading, and mechanical knowledge will be essential in delivering efficient and accurate fabrication processes. Responsibilities
- Set up and operate water jet cutting machines, ensuring proper calibration and alignment for each job.
- Program water jet equipment using CAD (Computer-Aided Design) files and CAM (Computer-Aided Manufacturing) software to achieve precise cuts.
- Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) specifications to ensure accurate fabrication.
- Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on water jet machinery to minimize downtime and optimize performance.
- Handle materials safely using forklifts and other materials handling tools; prepare raw materials for cutting processes.
- Conduct quality control checks using precision measuring instruments such as calipers and micrometers to verify dimensions and tolerances.
- Collaborate with team members on fabrication projects, assembly line tasks, and packaging operations to meet production deadlines.
Skills
- Proficiency in CNC programming, including familiarity with Fanuc controls and CNC milling machines or lathes.
- Strong knowledge of blueprint reading, GD&T standards, and mechanical principles relevant to manufacturing.
- Experience operating water jet cutters along with related equipment such as press brake machines, stamping presses, CNC milling machines, CNC lathes, and welding tools.
- Ability to use CAD software like SolidWorks for design modifications and tooling layouts.
- Skilled in the use of hand tools, calipers, micrometers, and other precision measuring instruments for quality assurance.
- Knowledge of factory safety protocols, materials handling procedures, and warehouse operations.
- Basic math skills for calculating dimensions, material quantities, and machine settings; familiarity with CAM programming is a plus.
