POSITION OVERVIEW
The Bakery Manager is the on-site leader responsible for all daily operations, staff, product quality, and customer experience. This is a hands-on role for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, loves baked goods, and knows how to lead a team with both accountability and heart. You'll work closely with ownership to execute the bakery's vision and drive continued growth.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Team Leadership
- Hire, train, schedule, and manage all bakery employees
- Conduct performance reviews and address personnel issues professionally
- Foster a positive, team-oriented culture where staff feel valued and motivated
Operations
- Oversee all daily operational procedures
- Ensure food safety, sanitation, and health code compliance at all times
- Maintain equipment and coordinate repairs or maintenance, as needed
Menu & Product
- Oversee product quality and consistency across all items
- Collaborate with ownership on menu development, seasonal offerings, and pricing
- Ensure all products are prepared and presented to brand standards
Inventory & Ordering
- Manage ingredient and supply inventory; conduct regular counts
- Place and receive orders from vendors (US Foods and others)
- Monitor waste, control costs, and identify opportunities to improve margins
Customer Experience
- Resolve customer concerns quickly and professionally
- Maintain a welcoming, community-focused atmosphere in the bakery
- Support local events, custom orders, and catering as needed
QUALIFICATIONS
- 2+ years of bakery, café, or food service management experience
- Proven ability to lead, develop, and retain a small team
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Experience with inventory management and vendor relationships
- Comfortable with POS systems and basic financial reporting
- ServSafe certified or willing to obtain certification
- Ability to work early mornings, weekends, and holidays
- Able to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs
