Construction Superintendent – Commercial Construction
On Target Staffing is seeking an experienced Construction Superintendent for our client to oversee commercial construction projects from pre-construction through final completion and turnover. This position is responsible for day-to-day field operations, subcontractor coordination, scheduling, safety, quality control, inspections, documentation, and maintaining strong communication with the Project Manager and project team.
The ideal candidate is highly organized, proactive, comfortable managing multiple trades, and able to maintain project schedules while ensuring work is completed safely and according to plans, specifications, and applicable codes.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide on-site supervision while construction activities are in progress.
- Coordinate daily activities of subcontractors, vendors, deliveries, and other project personnel.
- Work closely with the Project Manager, Project Coordinator, Project Executive, and other members of the project team.
- Review construction drawings, permit drawings, specifications, submittals, shop drawings, and revisions before and throughout construction.
- Verify existing site conditions, dimensions, utilities, tie-ins, elevations, and other critical project information.
- Coordinate project layout with subcontractors and identify conflicts or discrepancies before work proceeds.
- Maintain the overall project schedule and prepare weekly look-ahead schedules.
- Plan work at least two weeks in advance and coordinate upcoming manpower, materials, inspections, and subcontractor activities.
- Conduct and document weekly subcontractor/site meetings.
- Identify field issues and prepare RFIs when clarification is required.
- Maintain accurate documentation of project changes and ensure changes affecting cost are communicated to and approved by the Project Manager.
- Monitor project costs and field labor while following established approval procedures for project expenditures.
- Track materials, equipment, owner-supplied items, and subcontractor deliveries to ensure they arrive when needed.
- Maintain daily project logs in Procore, including manpower, construction activities, inspections, deliveries, and significant project events.
- Take progress photographs and upload required project documentation to Procore.
- Conduct weekly safety meetings/toolbox talks and maintain required safety documentation.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe jobsite.
- Monitor subcontractor performance, workmanship, manpower, and schedule compliance.
- Perform ongoing quality-control inspections to ensure work complies with construction documents, project specifications, and applicable codes.
- Coordinate required building, fire, health, and trade inspections.
- Verify rough-ins, backing, openings, finishes, equipment locations, and other construction details before work is covered or completed.
- Develop and maintain completion and punch lists as the project approaches turnover.
- Coordinate final inspections, cleaning, Certificate of Occupancy requirements, and project closeout.
- Maintain accurate as-built information and ensure required closeout documents are provided to the project team.
Qualifications
- Previous experience as a Construction Superintendent or similar field leadership position on commercial construction projects.
- Strong knowledge of commercial construction methods, sequencing, scheduling, and jobsite operations.
- Experience coordinating multiple subcontractors and trades simultaneously.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, shop drawings, and related project documents.
- Experience coordinating inspections and working with building departments and inspectors.
- Strong understanding of construction safety and jobsite quality-control practices.
- Ability to identify potential scheduling, coordination, and constructability issues before they impact the project.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently while maintaining consistent communication with the project team.
- Experience with Procore or similar construction management software preferred.
- Basic computer proficiency, including email and Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to travel between assigned project locations as required. Where driving is an essential function, a valid driver's license and ability to meet applicable driving requirements may be required.
Physical & Jobsite Requirements
This position requires regular work in an active construction environment. The employee must be able to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation, including navigating active jobsites, accessing areas of a construction project necessary to perform assigned duties, and conducting routine field inspections and supervision.

We are looking for a Superintendent who takes ownership of the jobsite and stays ahead of the project. Successful candidates understand that strong communication, planning, documentation, safety, quality, and subcontractor coordination are critical to completing projects successfully and on schedule.
The Superintendent should be comfortable identifying problems early, communicating them to the appropriate project team members, and working collaboratively to develop solutions.

Pay: $115,000.00 - $125,000.00 per year
