ABOUT THE ROLE:
The ideal candidate for this role is a dependable, resilient professional with proven multitasking capabilities who can effectively navigate high-pressure situations. As a Police Services Officer (PSO), you will actively engage with the community, address public safety concerns, assist sworn officers with investigations, and ensure strict compliance with local and state regulations. In this part-time, non-sworn position, you will perform critical administrative and field functions essential to supporting our law enforcement mission. This role is ideal for individuals committed to community-oriented policing and who want to develop a rewarding career in public service.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
Provide effective customer service both on the phone and in person; answer emergency and non-emergency phone calls.
Operate distinctively marked police vehicles on all roads, highways and freeways throughout the City.
Prepare police reports on minor incidents, traffic collisions, lost and found property, and basic crimes after obtaining information from victims and witnesses.
Perform parking enforcement work, patrolling designated areas, enforcing parking regulations and issuing citations for violations including double parking, illegal parking and street sweeping.
Assist in parking control during special eventson City streets during peak traffic conditions; post temporary signs and barricades; provide traffic control at the scene of traffic collisions and other non-hazardous incidents; and provide security and other assistance at crime scenes.
Assist in the collection, preservation, transportation, booking and release of property and evidence.
Assist in photographing, latent fingerprint and DNA collection, and documenting evidence at crime scenes.

EDUCATION:
High school graduationequivalent certification is required.
EXPERIENCE:
At least six (6) months of public contact and customer service experience requiring tact and discretion in dealing with others is required.
REQUIRED LICENSE:
A valid California Class “C” Driver’s License is required to operate distinctively marked police vehicles on all roads, highways and freeways throughout the City.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENT:
Must be able to work a flexible schedule to include shift work, nights, holiday, and weekends as needed.
