Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Dental Assistant to join our reputable dental practice. The ideal candidate will support the clinical team by providing exceptional chairside assistance, managing patient care, and ensuring smooth operations within the dental clinic. This role offers an opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment utilizing advanced dental technology and maintaining high standards of infection control and patient confidentiality. Prior experience with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic is preferred, along with a strong understanding of dental terminology and procedures across general dentistry, pediatric dentistry, prosthodontics, and endodontics.
Responsibilities
- Assist dentists during various procedures including restorative, endodontic, prosthodontic, and pediatric treatments
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments and ensuring all necessary supplies are available
- Take and develop X-rays while adhering to HIPAA regulations and infection control protocols
- Manage patient records using EMR systems like Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality
- Obtain vital signs and medical history information to support comprehensive patient care
- Educate patients on post-treatment care and oral health maintenance
- Perform chairside assisting with four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance efficiency
- Maintain aseptic technique throughout all procedures to prevent infection
- Operate 3D scanners and other medical imaging equipment as needed for diagnosis and treatment planning
- Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments and managing medical documentation when required
Experience
- Prior experience working in a dental clinic setting is highly preferred
- Familiarity with dental assisting procedures including X-ray techniques, vital signs collection, and infection control practices
- Knowledge of dental software systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic for medical records management
- Understanding of dental terminology across various specialties including general dentistry, pediatrics, prosthodontics, and endodontics
- Experience with medical coding and documentation for insurance claims is a plus
- Knowledge of anatomy relevant to dental procedures and infection prevention protocols is essential
- Certification in radiography or x-ray certification is desirable but not mandatory for all roles
