Hazelwood Logistics is seeking reliable, professional, and highly responsive On-Demand Medical Courier Drivers to transport blood specimens and other time-sensitive medical materials. These are STAT and ASAP deliveries that directly support patient care and laboratory operations.
This opportunity is ideal for drivers who can remain on-call and ready to accept urgent delivery requests during their scheduled availability periods.
Compensation
- $1.10 per mile
- Average delivery distance is approximately 30 miles per delivery
- Occasional long-distance deliveries may exceed 130 miles
- Independent Contractor (1099) position
- Earnings vary based on availability, acceptance rate, and delivery volume
Coverage Options & Availability
Drivers must select a preferred availability schedule:
Coverage Period
- 12-Hour Availability OR
- 24-Hour Availability
Days Available
Applicants must indicate which days they are available to accept dispatches:
- Monday
- Tuesday
- Wednesday
- Thursday
- Friday
- Saturday
- Sunday
Drivers may choose full-time, part-time, weekdays, weekends, or specific days, provided they can remain active during their committed availability periods.
Important Contractor Expectations
Once approved, contractors must remain signed in, active, and available during their scheduled coverage periods.
Drivers are expected to:
- Keep their phone powered on and accessible.
- Monitor dispatch notifications.
- Respond promptly to delivery requests.
- Be ready to begin pickups within the required response time.
Failure to remain active during scheduled availability may result in:
- Reduced delivery opportunities
- Lower dispatch priority
- Contract review or termination

- Houston, Texas
- Tyler, Texas

Responsibilities
- Pick up and deliver blood specimens and other medical materials safely and on time
- Respond quickly to STAT and ASAP delivery requests
- Follow chain-of-custody and specimen handling procedures
- Maintain delivery records and required documentation
- Communicate professionally with dispatchers, laboratories, hospitals, and healthcare personnel
- Operate a reliable vehicle in a safe and professional manner
- Adhere to all company, client, and regulatory requirements
Minimum Requirments
- Must be at least 21 years old
- Valid U.S. Driver's License
- Reliable personal vehicle in good operating condition
- Vehicle insurance with a minimum of $300,000 liability coverage
- Smartphone with GPS and data capability
- Ability to pass a background check
- Strong communication and time-management skills
- Must live within 30 minutes of the assigned pickup location or terminal
- Ability to remain available and responsive during selected on-call periods
Preferred Qualifications
- Medical courier experience
- Courier, delivery, or transportation experience
- Familiarity with hospitals, laboratories, and healthcare facilities
- Experience handling time-sensitive deliveries
