<Job Summary>
3-5 years A commercial HVAC installer is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems in commercial buildings. This includes reading blueprints, installing ductwork and equipment, running wiring, connecting pipes, and testing systems for proper and safe operation. The role requires mechanical aptitude, strong problem-solving skills, and the physical ability to work in various environments.
<Responsibilities>
- Installation: Install new HVAC systems, including ductwork (both flex and sheet metal), units, and all associated components in both new construction and retrofit projects.
- Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance and inspections on commercial HVAC equipment, such as chillers, boilers, and related systems.
- Troubleshooting and repair: Diagnose and repair issues with commercial systems, ensuring they operate efficiently and safely.
- System testing: Test newly installed or repaired systems to verify they are functioning correctly and meet all required codes and standards.
- Reading and interpreting plans: Read and interpret mechanical, electrical, and control drawings, blueprints, and diagrams.
- Record keeping: Maintain accurate records of installations, maintenance, and repairs.
- Customer communication: Communicate with clients and customers to explain the installation process and system operation.
<Experience>
- Proven experience as a service technician specializing in HVAC systems, refrigeration (including ammonia refrigeration), or property maintenance.
- Strong mechanical knowledge with hands-on experience in equipment repair, welding, boiler operation, and appliance repair.
- Experience: 3-5 years of experience in commercial HVAC installation.
- Certifications: Must possess a valid EPA certification.
- Technical skills:
- Mechanical aptitude and basic math skills.
- Knowledge of HVAC low and high voltage systems.
- Ability to interpret diagrams and blueprints.
- Proficiency with hand and power tools, as well as electrical testing equipment.
