The Asset Management (AM) Branch leads DWR’s effort to enhance its management of SWP water storage and conveyance infrastructure. A key function of the branch is developing AM plans which define strategies for monitoring, inspection, maintenance, and asset renewal to ensure the long-term safety and reliability of SWP facilities.
Duties: This position serves as a Plant Asset Planning Specialist and plays a key role in strengthening the long-term reliability and performance of the SWP by advancing modern AM systems, improving data-driven decision-making, and guiding major electrical and mechanical equipment strategies across the portfolio of SWP pumping and hydroelectric generating plants. This position serves as a trusted subject matter expert, leading cross-functional initiatives, shaping risk-informed investment planning, and driving continuous improvements to asset health and infrastructure reliability as outlined in the Operations and Maintenance (O&M) Strategic Asset Management Plan (SAMP).
This position supports the planning, development, and implementation of AM plans for SWP pumping and generating plants by: analyzing equipment condition, age, maintenance, and performance data to assess asset health; assessing risks; conducting business case evaluations; and evaluating current AM practices against industry best practice. These activities involve leading and participating in work group and workshop settings to collect data, evaluate current AM practices, and recommend improvements. The specialist also performs independent analyses, document results in technical memorandums, plans, and reports, and gives presentations to internal and external parties.
