About the Role
iLearn Center of Chicago is seeking a caring, energetic, and dedicated Preschool Lead Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate is passionate about early childhood education and committed to creating a safe, nurturing, and engaging classroom where children can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
As a Preschool Lead Teacher, you will plan and implement age-appropriate learning experiences, foster positive relationships with children and families, and maintain a classroom that encourages creativity, independence, and a love of learning.
Responsibilities
- Plan and implement developmentally appropriate lesson plans that align with Illinois Early Learning Standards.
- Create a safe, welcoming, and inclusive classroom environment.
- Foster children's cognitive, social, emotional, physical, and language development through hands-on learning experiences.
- Observe, assess, and document children's developmental progress.
- Manage classroom routines and maintain positive behavior using developmentally appropriate guidance techniques.
- Communicate regularly with families regarding their child's progress, daily activities, and developmental milestones.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and engaging classroom environment.
- Ensure the health, safety, and well-being of all children by following DCFS licensing regulations and center policies.
- Supervise children during indoor and outdoor activities, meals, rest time, and transitions.
- Collaborate with fellow teachers, administration, and support staff to provide the highest quality care and education.
- Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and required trainings.
- Maintain accurate attendance records, incident reports, lesson plans, and classroom documentation.
- Support children with varying abilities and learning styles through individualized instruction when appropriate.
Qualifications
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 60 college credit hours with Early Childhood Education coursework preferred.
- Previous experience as a lead teacher in a preschool, childcare center, or private school.
- Knowledge of child development and developmentally appropriate practices.
- Strong classroom management and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
- Must meet all Illinois DCFS licensing requirements.
- Current CPR/First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Completion of required DCFS trainings, including Mandated Reporter, SIDS/Safe Sleep (if applicable), and other required certifications.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience implementing Creative Curriculum, play-based learning, or other early childhood curricula.
- Experience using classroom assessment tools and developmental observations.
- Bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply.
