Duties
- Prepare and serve nutritious meals tailored to residents' dietary requirements, adhering to dietary department standards and food safety regulations.
- Assist with food production, including cooking, plating, and portioning meals efficiently and accurately.
- Serve residents with professionalism and kindness, ensuring their dining experience is pleasant and respectful.
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen equipment, dining areas, and utensils following strict hygiene protocols such as JCAHO standards.
- Support meal delivery processes by bussing tables, cleaning dining spaces, and ensuring proper food handling practices are followed.
- Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently while practicing safe lifting techniques during heavy lifting tasks.
- Follow all workplace safety procedures including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and manual handling guidelines to prevent injuries.
Skills
- Proven experience in assisted living facilities or nursing homes with knowledge of working with geriatric patients.
- Strong background in food industry roles such as food production, cooking, or dietary aide work.
- Excellent time management skills to handle meal preparation and service within scheduled timelines.
- Familiarity with food safety standards, sanitation practices, and operating kitchen equipment responsibly.
- Ability to adhere strictly to dietary requirements and accommodate special diets for residents with specific nutritional needs.
- Basic math skills for portion control, inventory management, and accurate record keeping.
- Exceptional customer service skills combined with patience, empathy, and clear communication to enhance residents’ dining experience.
