Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Accounts Payable Clerk to join our dynamic finance team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing the company’s accounts payable processes, ensuring timely and accurate payment of invoices, and maintaining strong relationships with vendors and internal stakeholders. Your expertise in financial software, accounting principles, and data entry will be vital in supporting our organization’s financial health and operational efficiency. Responsibilities
- Process and verify all incoming invoices using various accounting systems such as SAP, Oracle, or QuickBooks, ensuring compliance with company policies and GAAP standards.
- Perform account reconciliation tasks, including balance sheet reconciliation and general ledger accounting, to maintain accurate financial records.
- Manage accounts payable workflows by entering data with precision, coding expenses correctly, and preparing journal entries for approval.
- Ensure timely payments by monitoring due dates, preparing check runs or electronic transfers through platforms like Paychex or ADP, and resolving any discrepancies promptly.
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive financial information while handling vendor inquiries and providing exceptional customer service.
- Assist with month-end closing activities, including accruals and audit support related to accounts payable transactions.
- Support compliance efforts related to SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) controls and other regulatory requirements by documenting processes and maintaining audit-ready records.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in accounting or finance roles with a focus on accounts payable functions; familiarity with governmental or non-profit accounting is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of accounting concepts such as debits & credits, double-entry bookkeeping, and account analysis.
- Proficiency in financial software systems such as Workday, Xero, Sage, PeopleSoft, Ceridian, or UltiPro; experience with Microsoft Office Suite—including Excel data analysis—is essential.
- Ability to handle high-volume data entry accurately using 10 key typing skills while managing confidential information securely.
- Excellent numeracy skills combined with attention to detail for account reconciliation and journal entry accuracy.
- Familiarity with financial regulations including GAAP standards and SOX compliance requirements is highly desirable.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.
