The Scandinavian Cultural Center & Library is seeking a warm, organized, and community-minded individual to assist with the operation of our Scandinavian Library on Saturdays during our public season (September–June).
Our library serves as a welcoming gathering place for readers, researchers, language learners, and members of the Nordic community. We are looking for someone who enjoys working with the public and has an appreciation for Scandinavian and Nordic literature, culture, and languages.
Schedule
Saturdays, 11:00 AM–3:00 PM
September through June
Approximately 4 - 8 hours a month
Responsibilities
Welcome and assist library visitors
Check materials in and out
Help patrons locate books and resources
Maintain organization of library collections
Answer basic questions about library services
Assist with displays, book recommendations, and special projects as needed
Serve as an ambassador for the Scandinavian Cultural Center & Library
About the Scandinavian Library
The Scandinavian Library houses a collection of more than 6,000 books by Nordic authors in their original languages, as well as works about the Nordic countries and cultures. In addition to current and classic fiction, the collection includes biographies, immigrant history, poetry, plays, and other materials that reflect the rich literary and cultural traditions of the Nordic region.
As part of the Scandinavian Cultural Center & Library, the library serves as a resource and gathering place for readers, researchers, language learners, and anyone interested in exploring Nordic literature, history, and culture.
