American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Step-Down/Intermediate Care Unit position in Anderson, Indiana, requiring telemetry experience and an active IN or compact RN license.

26-bed Step-Down/Intermediate Care Unit (SDU/PCU) in a hospital setting
-
Patient population includes cardiac, neuro/stroke, dialysis, post-operative, respiratory, and general med/surg overflow patients
-
Provides care for medically complex patients requiring telemetry monitoring, frequent assessment, and specialized interventions
-
Manages patients with telemetry monitoring, IV drips (cardiac, vasoactive, or insulin infusions), central lines, PICC lines, and oxygen therapy including high-flow O2 and CPAP/BiPAP
-
Night shift: 18:00–06:30

Floating to other med/surg units may be required

13-week contract

Active IN RN license or compact RN license currently in hand

Current BLS certification (AHA only)

Current ACLS certification (AHA only)

NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required
-
Minimum 1 year of RN experience required

Step-down, progressive care, or telemetry unit experience required

Strong critical thinking, clinical judgment, and ability to manage complex patients in a fast-paced environment

Perform comprehensive assessments including respiratory, cardiovascular, neurological, and hemodynamic status
-
Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms, vital signs, and lab results, and notify providers of changes in patient condition
-
Administer IV and other medications per physician orders and hospital policy
-
Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including physicians, respiratory therapy, physical therapy, and case management
-
Educate patients and families on diagnosis, treatment plans, medications, and discharge instructions
-
Recognize early signs of patient deterioration and escalate care as needed
-
Accurate EMR documentation of assessments, interventions, and patient responses is expected
-
Local candidates are accepted; however, candidates residing within the facility's radius may be subject to a reduced pay rate
