Gray & Postell, Inc., is a multi-disciplinary professional engineering firm focused on providing consulting and design services for the building construction industry. As a result of continued growth, we are seeking a full-time Senior Mechanical HVAC Designer/Engineer to work in our Atlanta, Georgia office. We are seeking highly motivated individuals that enjoy working within a team structure with clients and internal team members to provide delivery of successful projects within the southeast and national markets.
Position Overview (position may include but not be limited to the following responsibilities):
- Capable of design of entire projects for own discipline.
- Guide and delegate engineering tasks to designers on internal team.
- Use judgement to solve design challenges for non-routine aspects of projects.
- Apply company and client requirements and standards.
- Take responsible charge of projects for your discipline.
- Interact with clients, architects, owner’s representatives, contractors and project team members for all aspects of design and construction administration.
- Assigns tasks to and coordinates work with supporting engineers or administrative staff.
- Evaluate, design and layout heating, ventilating, and air conditioning (HVAC) and plumbing systems.
- Size, select and layout HVAC systems, ductwork and distribution devices.
- Size, select and layout mechanical process equipment and piping.
- Utilize computer aided drafting software (AutoCAD or ) to prepare engineering documents.
- Calculate heating and cooling loads for system evaluation as relates to specific facility and client requirements.
- Provide energy analysis and or modeling for compliance with energy codes and sustainable certification guidelines.
- Prepare plans and specification documents for construction.
- Perform field observations of installations to verify work was provided in compliance with documents, client requirements and codes.
- Participates in document review of work through various stages of projects for quality control by staff.
- Perform evaluation of staff resource management.Desired Skills & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution.
- 8-15 plus years of relevant experience.
- PE license with ability to be licensed in other states.
- Able to manage a team for successful delivery of projects.
- Proficient in AutoCAD and .
- Proficient in applicable design guidelines and codes.
- Able to effectively communicate and coordinate with clients throughout the process of a project.

Pay: $85,000.00 - $140,000.00 per year
