The NIAID Laboratory of Immune System Biology is seeking a talented and motivated Computational Biologist to join our team in Bethesda, MD.
Our group focuses on uncovering spatial determinants of immune tolerance by studying patients with inborn errors of immunity. We use highly multiplexed 3D tissue imaging (confocal microscopy) and custom and open-source computational pipelines to identify spatial features dictating immune responses.
This computational biologist will be expected to developed computational pipelines, including learning, operating, and scaling our existing computational and 3D image analysis pipelines. They will also develop and implement custom image analysis tools to solve novel spatial biology challenges, as well as manage and support computational projects comprised of complex 3-dimensional tissue imaging datasets. Lastly, they will be asked to maintain and optimize our existing in-house image analysis software and computational workflows.

Applicants must have strong programming skills in Python and/or R, and will preferably have experience with quantitative image processing, spatial statistics, multiplexed tissue imaging (IBEX, CODEX, confocal), or spatial transcriptomics. Multiple training levels will be considered, but a bachelor’s degree is the minimum.
