NRG Fire Consulting is a fast-growing fire and life safety consulting and design company with locations throughout the US and work throughout North America. We’re looking for a Fire Sprinkler / Suppression System Designer to join our team and contribute to our mutual success. This role is work from home and is open to anyone located in the 48 contiguous US states. Some travel is required to complete surveys or punch walks of new installation.
Duties
A Fire Sprinkler / Suppression System Designer with NRG will work to create plans and specifications for new and remodel projects. We work on commercial, retail, industrial and other types of projects. This role is responsible for coordinating with our in house consultants to develop system criteria, coordinating with external disciplines, and to design fire systems to bid, submittal, and install quality levels. Travel will occasionally be required for surveys because the role of our work takes place throughout North America, although most travel for each NRG team member is within a specific region. Travel averages approximately two nights per month.
Job Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, or related field desired although not required.
- Preferred: NICET II or above certification preferred.
- Minimum of 1 year of design operations related to core business.
- Competencies: Full knowledge of design requirements for company operations. Strong working knowledge of building and fire codes and NFPA standards. Strong understanding of fire sprinkler systems, fire service underground, and fire pump systems.
- Required: Microsoft Office Suite, sprinkler design software tools such as Sprinkcad. Revit experience preferred.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills demonstrated ability to adhere to company and design standards. Ability to stay ahead of the curve on product development, changing standards, and customer expectations with respect to core company offerings. Ability to work within tight project timeframes and communicate effectively with customers.

Pay: $29.39 - $45.00 per hour
