Systems Administrator – Linux (Red Hat Enterprise Linux)
Position Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Systems Administrator – Linux (Red Hat Enterprise Linux) to support a mission-critical federal program. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in Red Hat Enterprise Linux, scripting, automation, and networking, and will play a key role in designing, implementing, maintaining, and optimizing Linux environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, maintain, and troubleshoot Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server environments (v8v9).
- Develop and maintain advanced automation scripts using BASH, Perl, JavaScript, or Python.
- Perform administration and O&M tasks from the command line.
- Manage task automation using tools like Ansible and RHEL Satellite.
- Handle package management across geographically dispersed environments.
- Configure and manage NFTables, Firewalld, IPTables, ISC2 BIND DNS, TCP/IP, IPv4/IPv6, Postfix/SMTP Relay.
- Administer Linux Server Clustering, NFSv3/NFSv4, PXE boot, and SELinux.
- Support Mirantis Container Runtime (formerly Docker), AWS, and GitLab.
- Maintain detailed documentation for system designs, configurations, processes, and service records.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support IT infrastructure projects.
- Lead and mentor junior team members.
- Troubleshoot and resolve LAN/WAN connectivity and performance issues.
- Ensure compliance with security hardening standards (CIS, NIST SP 80053 Rev. 5, DISA STIGs).
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems, Cybersecurity, or related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
- 10+ years of experience with Linux/UNIX systems and interoperability with Windows.
- Current Red Hat certification (e.g., RHCSA, RHCE, or RHCA).
- Strong scripting skills in BASH, Perl, JavaScript, or Python.
- Experience with Ansible, RHEL Satellite, and other automation tools.
- Familiarity with Mirantis Container Runtime, AWS, and GitLab.
- Excellent problem solving, communication, and documentation skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- On-call Requirement: Participation in a 24/7/365 on-call rotation
