Superior Training is a family-owned swimming and training facility with a big reputation and an even bigger heart. Superior Stars is our in-house, non-competitive swim team — a bridge between swim lessons and competitive club swimming. The focus is on skill development, conditioning, and building a love for the sport in a fun, low-pressure environment.
The Role
We're looking for a Lead Coach to run the Superior Stars program. You'll be on deck leading practices, planning the season, and serving as the main point of contact for Stars families. This is a great fit for someone who loves coaching kids but wants a program built around growth and enjoyment rather than meet results.
Responsibilities
- Plan and lead practices for swimmers of varying ages and ability levels
- Develop seasonal skill progressions focused on stroke technique, endurance, and water confidence
- Communicate with parents on swimmer progress, schedules, and program updates
- Evaluate incoming swimmers for placement and readiness
- Identify swimmers ready to advance toward competitive club swimming and guide those transitions
- Maintain a safe, positive, and organized pool deck
- Coordinate with facility management on scheduling and program logistics
Qualifications
- Prior swim coaching or swim instruction experience required
- Strong knowledge of all four competitive strokes and stroke development
- Excellent communication skills with kids and parents
- Lifeguard/CPR certification (or willingness to obtain — we can help)
- USA Swimming coach certification a plus, not required
- Reliable, punctual, and comfortable leading a deck independently
Schedule
Superior Stars runs year-round across four sessions: fall, winter, spring, and summer. Practices are typically held:
- Tuesday & Thursday evenings: 6:30 – 8:45 PM
- Saturday mornings: 7:45 – 8:45 AM and 10:30 – 11:30 AM
Approximately 6–7 coaching hours per week, with some additional time for planning and parent communication.
Additional Earning Opportunity
Private lesson opportunities are available through Superior Training with starting pay at $50/hour.
