Associate Attorney – Family Law and Civil Litigation
Creek County Law,
CCL Lawyers, PLLC
Sapulpa, Oklahoma
Full-Time
Creek County Law is seeking an associate attorney to join our established, technology driven, and growing practice. The attorney hired for this position will primarily handle family-law matters, while also assisting with a varied civil-litigation docket.
This is not a document-review position or a role in which a new attorney will spend years waiting for meaningful responsibility. The successful candidate will work directly with clients, manage an active caseload, appear regularly in court, conduct discovery, take depositions, participate in mediation, and prepare cases for contested hearings and trial. The attorney will receive meaningful guidance and support while being expected to develop the judgment, preparation, and independence necessary to manage cases from intake through resolution.
Primary Responsibilities
The associate’s caseload will be weighted heavily toward family law, including:
- Divorce, custody, visitation, child-support, and paternity matters;
- Temporary-order and final hearings;
- Post-decree enforcement and modification proceedings;
- Protective-order proceedings;
- Guardianships and other related domestic matters; and
- Negotiation, mediation, discovery, and trial preparation.
The associate will also participate in civil-litigation matters that may include contract disputes, property disputes, construction claims, probate and trust litigation, insurance disputes, and other contested civil cases.
Responsibilities will include:
- Meeting with and advising clients;
- Drafting pleadings, motions, discovery, correspondence, settlement documents, and proposed orders;
- Managing deadlines and maintaining organized case files;
- Appearing in district and municipal courts;
- Conducting legal research and developing litigation strategy;
- Taking and defending depositions;
- Participating in mediation and settlement negotiations; and
- Preparing for and conducting evidentiary hearings and trials.
Qualifications
Applicants must:
- Be licensed to practice law in Oklahoma or be eligible for admission within a reasonable period;
- Possess strong legal-writing, analytical, and oral-advocacy skills;
- Be capable of managing deadlines and multiple active matters;
- Communicate effectively with clients, opposing counsel, court personnel, and firm staff;
- Exercise sound professional judgment;
- Be willing to accept responsibility for their cases; and
- Maintain high standards of preparation, candor, professionalism, and client service.
Prior family-law or litigation experience is preferred, but we will consider a motivated newer attorney with strong academic credentials, demonstrated writing ability, and the temperament to become an effective courtroom lawyer.
Compensation
We intend to offer the successful applicant a choice among compensation structures designed to accommodate different levels of experience, production, and risk tolerance.
Available compensation options may include:
- A competitive base salary with performance-based bonuses;
- A base salary combined with a percentage of collected revenue after established production benchmarks are met; or
- A production-focused compensation plan offering substantially greater earning potential for an attorney who develops and manages a strong caseload.
Our compensation plans are structured to provide some of the strongest earning opportunities available in the regional legal market. Attorneys who produce, collect, and responsibly manage their files will have the ability to participate directly in the revenue they generate rather than being limited to a fixed salary with nominal annual increases.
Final compensation will depend upon experience, demonstrated ability, the compensation structure selected, and the attorney’s expected level of responsibility and production.
Benefits and Professional Opportunity
The position offers:
- An established firm with an existing client base and steady flow of matters;
- Immediate courtroom and case-management experience;
- Direct mentoring and substantive litigation training;
- Professional staff and administrative support;
- Paid time off;
- Paid holidays;
- Continuing legal education support;
- Bar-dues support;
- Opportunities for performance-based compensation growth; and
- A realistic path toward increased responsibility, autonomy, and long-term professional advancement.
This position is best suited for an attorney who wants to practice law, appear in court, develop clients, and be compensated in proportion to the value the attorney creates.
