Responsibilities
- Collect blood samples via venipuncture and capillary puncture using aseptic technique to ensure specimen integrity.
- Prepare and process laboratory specimens accurately, adhering to proper handling and storage protocols.
- Assist healthcare providers with patient care activities, including vital signs measurement, patient positioning, and basic clinical assessments.
- Maintain detailed documentation of procedures, patient information, and laboratory data within Electronic Medical Records (EMR) or Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems.
- Provide excellent patient service by explaining procedures clearly, addressing concerns, and ensuring comfort during specimen collection and clinical tasks.
- Follow laboratory procedures and techniques to uphold safety standards and quality control measures in all medical laboratory work.
- Support hospital or clinic operations by performing clerical duties such as data entry, appointment scheduling, and inventory management of supplies.
Experience
- Prior experience in a clinical laboratory setting or medical office environment is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated knowledge of laboratory techniques including blood sampling, specimen handling, and processing.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) is required to ensure readiness for emergency situations.
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems for accurate data entry and record keeping.
- Experience working with diverse patient populations such as pediatrics and geriatrics enhances your ability to provide compassionate care.
- Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, and clinical laboratory practices supports effective performance in this role.
- Ability to lift heavy objects safely when handling supplies or specimens is necessary for maintaining workflow efficiency.
