We seek an electrical engineer to join our multidisciplinary team to work on iconic projects that strengthen communities.
POSITION SUMMARY AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The Electrical Engineer, under supervision of a Senior Engineer, will participate in the planning, design and construction oversight of electrical systems as a part of a multi-discipline engineering team.
The position consists of, but is not limited to, the following:
- Design of electrical systems for building power; i.e. Normal, Emergency, and Standby power distribution systems for 208v, 480v, and medium voltage for industrial facilities, including photometric calculations, for building interiors, building exteriors, roadways, airport systems.
- Design of fire alarm systems, security, access control and video surveillance systems
- Design calculations for short circuit selective coordination, arc flash, generator sizing, steady state and transient voltage drops, load calculations, conductor sizing, junction box/pull box sizing, raceway fills, photometrics, etc.
- Highway/roadway and intersection lighting design experience.
- Production of bid documents consisting of layout drawings, one-line, riser, schedules, details, and specifications.
- Preparation of estimates of probable construction costs.
- Supporting the electrical bid process for clients, observe construction, and assist with start-up.
- Preparation of electrical design budgets and design schedules
REQUIRED EDUCATION, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering
- Active Professional Engineer license in the State of Illinois (preferred)
- Minimum 5 Years Experience
- Knowledge of electrical codes and standards including, but not limited to, the City of Chicago Electrical Code, Illinois Department of Transportation and Chicago Department of Transportation standards and specifications.
- Familiarity with SKM PowerTools, AGI32, and Microsoft Office products.
