Job Overview
We are seeking a friendly, organized, and patient-focused Patient Care Coordinator to join our growing optometry practice. As the first point of contact for our patients, you will play a vital role in creating a welcoming experience while ensuring the efficient day-to-day operation of the clinic. Key Responsibilities
- Greet patients warmly and provide outstanding customer service from check-in through check-out.
- Schedule, confirm, and manage patient appointments.
- Verify vision and medical insurance eligibility, benefits, and authorizations.
- Collect patient information, update medical records, and ensure documentation is accurate and complete.
- Process co-pays, payments, and explain billing and insurance information to patients.
- Coordinate referrals, follow-up appointments, and communication with other healthcare providers when needed.
- Answer incoming phone calls, messages, and patient inquiries in a professional and timely manner.
- Work closely with doctors, technicians, and optical staff to maintain an efficient patient flow.
- Educate patients on clinic policies, appointment preparation, and available services.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations.
- Assist with general front office and administrative duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree preferred.
- Previous experience in a medical office, healthcare, optometry, ophthalmology, or customer service environment preferred.
- Experience verifying insurance benefits and working with electronic health records is a plus.
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and basic computer applications.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a team.
- Professional, dependable, and compassionate with a positive attitude.
