The Medical Assistant performs both clinical and clerical duties while working under the direction of a physician. This position is responsible for coordinating transactions both on the phone and in person with patients and staff.
Duties and Responsibilities:
· Work as a Medical Assistant
· Answer Nurses Phone line and responds promptly to urgent matters
· Takes Medical Histories
· Records Vital Signs
· Opens office visit notes and starts the documentation for the provider
· Explains treatment plans and obtains patient consent for procedure
· Prepares patients for examination
· Assists provider during examination
· Collect and prepare laboratory specimens
· Sterilize medical instruments
· Keeps waiting and exam rooms neat and clean
· Stocks exam rooms with necessary supplies
Skills and Abilities
· Ability to assist in office procedures
· Ability to multi-task in a busy environment
· Must be able to interact professionally and politely with patients, staff, and doctors
· Ability to take vitals and patient history
· Utilize various computer technologies for patient information input
· Ability to recognize problems and recommend solutions
Job Requirement:
· High school diploma or equivalent
· Medical Assistant Certification or equivalent relevant working experience
· eClinicalworks (eCw) experience preferred
· 2 years’ experience in a medical office preferred
