Position Overview
We are looking for a hard-working, dependable individual with a great attitude to join our Greensburg location as an Automotive Refinish / Paint Prep Technician.
The Refinish Prep Technician works closely with our Lead Refinish Technician to properly prepare vehicles for refinishing and return them to their pre-accident condition.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who wants to build a long-term career in the collision repair industry. Training will be provided with the opportunity to develop the skills necessary to advance into a Lead Refinish Technician role and learn to spray vehicles.
Responsibilities
- Prepare vehicle surfaces for refinishing, including sanding, cleaning, and masking.
- Properly protect areas that will not be painted.
- Assist with restoring vehicle finishes after body repairs have been completed.
- Remove old coatings and prepare surfaces for new finishes.
- Clean and polish painted surfaces as needed.
- Strive for an invisible refinish that meets or exceeds the quality standards outlined in the repair appraisal.
- Perform refinish work according to company procedures and current paint manufacturer standards.
- Read and understand repair orders and follow repair procedures accurately.
- Learn and utilize computerized paint color-reading equipment and related software.
- Follow all company safety procedures, government safety regulations, and environmental guidelines.
- Participate in required annual training and maintain company certifications.
- Assist with the cleaning and organization of paint booths and preparation areas.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
- Work cooperatively with the entire repair team to ensure quality repairs and a positive customer experience.
Qualifications
- Strong attention to detail with an eye for color and quality.
- 1–2 years of experience as a Collision Repair Preparation Technician is preferred, but we are willing to train the right candidate.
- Strong work ethic and positive attitude.
- Ability to work independently while also being a team player.
- Ability to lift approximately 40–50 lbs.
- Ability to stand, bend, crouch, kneel, and reach for extended periods.
- Basic computer skills and willingness to learn new technology.
- Valid driver's license and good driving record.
Compensation & Benefits
- Monday–Friday, 7:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m.
- Starting pay: $18.00/hour, depending on experience
- Potential to earn up to $40+/hour as skills and experience develop
- All required training and travel expenses paid for by Enneking Auto Body
