Toddler Time CDC and Wise 360 Academy are dedicated to providing a safe, nurturing, and enriching environment where young children can learn, grow, and thrive. We are seeking a passionate and experienced Lead Teacher to guide our toddler and preschool-age classrooms (ages 2–5) in delivering high-quality early childhood education.
Position Summary
The Lead Teacher is responsible for planning and implementing developmentally appropriate curriculum, managing the daily classroom routine, supervising assistant teachers/aides, and ensuring the health, safety, and well-being of all children in their care. This role requires someone who is nurturing, organized, and committed to fostering each child's social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, prepare, and implement age-appropriate lesson plans and activities for children ages 2–5 in accordance with Virginia licensing standards and program curriculum.
- Create a warm, safe, and stimulating classroom environment that encourages exploration and learning.
- Observe and assess each child's development, and maintain accurate records/portfolios of progress.
- Communicate regularly and professionally with parents/guardians regarding their child's development, daily activities, and any concerns.
- Supervise and mentor assistant teachers and classroom aides, providing guidance and modeling best practices.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe classroom, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Implement positive guidance and classroom management techniques appropriate for toddlers and preschoolers.
- Ensure supervision of children at all times, including during transitions, meals, rest time, and outdoor play.
- Maintain compliance with Virginia Department of Education / Department of Social Services licensing requirements, including required documentation, ratios, and reporting.
- Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities.
- Foster an inclusive classroom that respects and celebrates diversity.
Qualifications
- Minimum of a CDA (Child Development Associate) credential, Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field (required or strongly preferred).
- Previous experience working with toddlers and/or preschool-age children in a licensed childcare or educational setting.
- Knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices and early childhood curriculum standards.
- Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
- Current CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Ability to pass required Virginia background checks, including Central Registry, Sex Offender Registry, and fingerprinting/criminal background check.
- Physical ability to actively engage with children, including sitting on the floor, lifting up to 40 lbs, and standing for extended periods.
- Reliable, punctual, and passionate about early childhood education.
