About Us
BuildEd is committed to transforming any job into a thriving career for anyone, at any stage. Through our Career Performance Training workshops, we partner with workforce boards, institutions, and companies across 90 markets nationwide. Our participants include adults and young adults entering or reentering the workforce, navigating career transitions, and working through barriers to employment.
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced facilitator to lead live, interactive virtual career-readiness workshops for participants referred by our partner organizations. The primary responsibility of this role is delivering BuildEd’s established curriculum consistently, clearly, and with the energy needed to sustain participation throughout an extended workshop.
This is a curriculum-delivery role rather than a curriculum-development position. The selected facilitator must be comfortable learning BuildEd’s methodology, following an established session structure, managing pacing and transitions, and facilitating presentations, activities, discussions, and participant reflection.
We are also looking for someone with demonstrated interest and ability in one-on-one coaching. The selected facilitator must be willing to complete additional preparation and accept follow-up coaching assignments when available. Coaching focuses on applying workshop concepts, setting goals, identifying next steps, and navigating employment or career transitions.
This role involves:
- Completing BuildEd’s facilitator orientation program and demonstrating mastery of the Career Performance Training curriculum and related materials.
- Leading engaging virtual workshops using presentations, activities, discussions, and participant reflection.
- Encouraging participation and reinforcing our core message of adding value in the workplace.
- Completing additional coaching preparation and accepting participant coaching assignments when available.
This is a contract position, with each workshop requiring an approximately six-hour commitment. Most regularly scheduled workshops are held on Wednesdays and Saturdays from approximately 11:30 AM to 5:30 PM Eastern Time. Additional cohorts may be scheduled on other days and at other times based on partner needs.
Facilitators submit their availability monthly. BuildEd typically offers each active facilitator one to two workshops per month. Applicants should have recurring availability on Wednesdays and Saturdays during this window. Workshop assignments are not guaranteed and may occasionally exceed two in a given month, depending on partner demand, facilitator availability, and scheduling needs.
Who You Are
You are first and foremost an experienced live facilitator who can confidently deliver an established curriculum while creating an engaging, supportive, and well-managed virtual learning environment.
You also have experience helping individuals move toward employment, educational, career, or personal-development goals through one-on-one coaching or advising.
The most relevant backgrounds include:
- Leading live, interactive workshops for adult or young-adult audiences.
- Delivering an established curriculum developed by an employer, training provider, or community program.
- Workforce development, career readiness, employment services, adult education, reentry services, social services, or related community-based programming.
- Coaching or advising individuals through goal setting, action planning, employment barriers, or major life transitions.
- Working with diverse populations and adapting communication to different backgrounds, needs, and levels of experience.
Qualifications
- Two or more years of experience leading live, interactive workshops or cohort-based training for adults or young adults. Classroom teaching alone does not satisfy this requirement. Experience leading virtual sessions is strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to learn and deliver an established curriculum while managing pacing, activities, discussion, and participation.
- Demonstrated experience providing one-on-one coaching or advising that includes goal setting, action planning, and participant follow-through.
- Experience providing one-on-one coaching or advising related to employment, career development, education, or major life transitions.
- Strong presentation and communication skills with a dynamic and engaging presence.
- Ability to encourage discussion and participation while maintaining structure, focus, and alignment with the curriculum’s intended outcomes.
- Proficiency with virtual presentation platforms and technology, including Zoom and Google Workspace.
- Reliable access to high-speed internet, a computer, webcam, microphone, and presentation software.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively in a remote environment.
- Spanish-English bilingual proficiency is a plus but is not required.
