Corporate Accountant Assistant Summary
The corporate accountant assistant is responsible for supporting day-to-day corporate accounting functions. The primary emphasis is on coordination of accounts receivable functions including customer billing, collections, cash application, and account reconciliation. This position helps maintain accurate financial records, supports timely reporting, contributes to effective cash flow management, and assists with strong internal controls.
This role also provides general accounting and administrative support to the regional/corporate controllers and chief financial officer as needed. Experience with multi-state tax and business licensing is helpful, but training will be provided for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities
· Perform corporate accounting duties, including maintaining accurate general ledger activity, posting journal entries, reconciling accounts, and supporting month-end and year-end close processes.
· Manage accounts receivable functions, including customer invoicing, payment posting, cash receipts, collections, credit memos, adjustments, and customer account reconciliations.
· Monitor accounts receivable aging and follow up on past-due balances in a professional and timely manner.
· Research and resolve billing questions, customer payment issues, unapplied cash, short payments, and account discrepancies.
· Prepare accounts receivable reports, aging summaries, collection updates, cash receipt reports, and other financial reports as requested.
· Assist with accounts payable, bank reconciliations, expense tracking, and other bookkeeping functions as needed.
· Maintain accurate customer, vendor, and accounting records.
· Support the Regional/Corporate Controllers and CFO with financial reporting, special projects, documentation, analysis, and administrative tasks as needed.
· Assist with multi-state tax filings, registrations, compliance tracking, and documentation.
· Assist with business license applications, renewals, reporting requirements, and related records.
· Help improve accounting procedures, internal controls, documentation, and workflow efficiency.
· Maintain confidentiality of financial, customer, vendor, and company information.
Qualifications
· Prior experience in corporate accounting, bookkeeping, accounts receivable, or a related finance role.
· Strong understanding of basic accounting principles and bookkeeping procedures.
· Experience with accounts receivable, invoicing, collections, cash application, and account reconciliation.
· Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
· Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work independently.
· Strong written and verbal communication skills.
· Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and general accounting software.
· Professional and courteous approach when communicating with customers, vendors, agencies, and internal team members.
· Experience with multi-state tax matters and business licensing is preferred but not required; training will be provided.
Preferred Experience
· Experience in a corporate accounting or full-charge bookkeeping role.
· Experience supporting corporate accounting or finance leadership.
· Familiarity with multi-state business operations.
· Exposure to sales tax, use tax, property tax, business registrations, license renewals, or compliance filings.
· Experience preparing management reports and supporting financial close processes.

Reporting Relationship
This position reports to the CFO.
Pay: $60,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year

Work Location: In person
