We manage complex residential construction projects remotely using technology, AI, and industry-leading processes.
We're looking for a highly organized, construction-minded Assistant Project Manager who wants to grow into a Senior Project Manager over the next 18–24 months.
This is not an administrative coordinator role. This is a leadership development position.

Position Overview
The Assistant Project Manager partners directly with a Senior Project Manager to execute larger, more complex projects ranging from $500,000–$2M+.
The APM owns the operational side of project execution while learning every aspect of project management. Over time, this role is expected to become a fully independent Project Manager.
Responsibilities: Project Execution
- Assist in managing multiple residential construction projects simultaneously.
- Review plans, specifications, scopes of work, and contracts before construction begins.
- Coordinate with architects, engineers, permitting agencies, and consultants.
- Track project schedules and identify potential delays before they impact the client.
Procurement & Cost Management
- Coordinate material procurement and long-lead items.
- Solicit and compare subcontractor proposals.
- Review subcontractor pricing with the PM.
- Assist with purchase orders and change orders.
- Monitor budgets and job costs.
- Help forecast project financial performance.
Construction Operations
- Coordinate inspections, permits, RFIs, RFP’s and submittals.
- Monitor subcontractor performance.
- Track quality control items.
- Maintain project documentation.
- Help resolve field issues quickly.
Client Experience
- Participate in client meetings.
- Help communicate project updates.
- Ensure clients receive timely responses.
- Assist with change order discussions.
Technology & AI
STR Cribs operates as an AI-first construction company.
The APM will work inside our Command Center using AI to:
- Review documentation
- Validate AI-generated summaries
- Track project milestones
- Improve workflows
- Support automation initiatives
Qualifications - Required
- 3–7 years of residential construction experience.
- Experience with remodels, additions, or custom homes.
- Ability to read construction drawings.
- Strong understanding of scheduling and sequencing.
- Experience coordinating subcontractors.
- Strong communication skills.
- Highly organized and detail-oriented.
- Comfortable learning new technology.
- Willing to travel occasionally for project site visits if needed.
Preferred
- Buildertrend, Procore, or similar construction software.
- Experience with budgets and cost forecasting.
- Experience managing change orders.
- Multi-state project experience.
- Experience working with remote teams.
What Success Looks Like
Within the first 90 days, you'll:
- Successfully support active projects with minimal supervision.
- Take ownership of project schedules and coordination tasks.
- Build strong relationships with subcontractors and clients.
- Learn STR Cribs' AI tools and operating systems.
Within 6 months, you'll:
- Be capable of managing portions of projects independently.
- Drive schedule accountability.
- Assist in financial management and forecasting.
- Become a trusted operational partner to the Project Manager.
Within 12–24 months, you'll be positioned to step into a full Project Manager role.
Pay: From $70,000.00 per year
