Position Summary
The Bus Driver provides safe, timely, and professional transportation services to residents while delivering excellent customer service. This role ensures all transportation activities are conducted in compliance with federal, state, and DOT regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate community bus and other vehicles within a 100-mile radius and within state lines
- Transport residents to appointments, activities, and scheduled outings
- Assist residents on and off the vehicle, including supporting walkers and mobility devices
- Properly secure mobility equipment during transport
- Operate mechanical lift (hydraulic/manual) when applicable
- Complete daily vehicle inspections and maintain hours-of-service logs
- Ensure routine preventative maintenance and cleanliness of the vehicle
- Report mechanical issues or safety concerns promptly
- Maintain proper documentation, including inspection tags, insurance cards, and accident kits
- Provide courteous, compassionate interaction with residents
- Support additional community tasks on a relief basis if needed
Qualifications & Requirements
- Valid driver’s license meeting all state and federal requirements
- Ability to meet DMV requirements and pass drug screening
- Ability to safely operate passenger transport vehicles
- Strong customer service and communication skills (English required)
- Ability to work flexible schedules, including weekends
- Strong organizational skills and attention to safety
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment
- Commercial driver authorization packet approval (as required)
