Job Overview
A Touch of Rena is currently seeking compassionate, dependable, and professional individuals to join our team as Direct Support Professionals (DSPs). This is a non-medical position providing support services to individuals with developmental disabilities in their homes and community settings.
Services may include Personal Supports, Life Skills Development Level 1 (Companion), and Respite services designed to promote independence, community inclusion, daily living skills, and overall quality of life.
We are currently expanding services throughout Northeast Florida, including but not limited to Duval County, St. Johns County (St. Augustine), Volusia County, and surrounding areas.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Provide companionship, supervision, and supportive care to individuals with developmental disabilities
- Assist clients with daily living activities and routines while encouraging independence
- Support clients during community outings, recreational activities, appointments, and community integration activities
- Assist individuals with developing and maintaining appropriate life and social skills
- Assist with light housekeeping tasks necessary to maintain a safe and clean environment for the client
- Assist with meal preparation and basic household support as needed
- Follow individualized support plans and client-specific instructions
- Maintain professional boundaries and treat all clients with dignity and respect
- Observe and report any concerns, behavioral changes, or incidents to supervisors promptly
- Complete accurate daily documentation, service notes, and required reports in a timely manner
- Provide reliable and consistent support according to assigned schedules
- Transport clients to and from approved activities or appointments when assigned
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Must have High school diploma or GED
- Must have valid CPR and First Aid certification or be willing to obtain certification before working with clients
- Must be able to pass Level 2 and local background screenings
- Must complete all required APD and agency trainings, including Train Florida requirements, prior to providing services
- Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and proof of insurance required
- Must have clean driving record
- Must be willing to work in Jacksonville, FL and surrounding counties based on client assignments
- Ability to work flexible schedules, including evenings and weekends if needed
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and follow directions
- Must be dependable, professional, patient, and compassionate
- Ability to complete daily documentation and electronic or written service notes accurately
- Must be physically able to walk, stand, bend, and assist clients with mobility support if needed
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or special needs
- Experience in home and community-based services
- Knowledge of person-centered support practices
