YouTube Long-Form Script Writer (Documentary Style, 10 to 30+ Minutes)
Hi there,
We're a ghostwriting agency that's been running for over 15 years, and we work with faceless, documentary-style YouTube channels. We're looking to bring experienced long-form script writers onto our roster.
This isn't entry-level work. We need people who already understand what makes a video actually hold an audience: strong hooks, open loops, pacing, pattern interrupts, and retention from the first line to the last. If "retention" and "watch time" are new concepts to you, this probably isn't the right fit.
What we're looking for:
- Real experience writing long-form YouTube scripts, roughly 10 to 30 minutes or longer. Short-form experience is a nice bonus, but long form is the focus.
- Someone genuinely hands-on with research, brainstorming, and fact-checking. This is a big part of the job.
- A writer who's happy to share their own thoughts and opinions, and who can help shape an outline when we hand over a topic.
- Someone who already watches this kind of content. Documentary-style, long-form YouTube should be something you enjoy on your own time, not just something you get paid to write.
The rate:
I like to be upfront so we don't waste each other's time. Our current steady channel pays around $200 to $220 for a script of roughly 6,000 words. Every new contract/client/channel is negotiated separately, so it could land around the same or higher, but I need to know you're comfortable in that range before we take things further.
Payment:
Payment is sent 2 to 3 weeks after the client approves the finished script.
Availability (very important point):
I'm based in Europe, so I need writers who are reachable in the mornings EST. I also need you available on WhatsApp for quick text check-ins. In this industry you can't leave a client waiting a full day for a reply, so responsiveness genuinely matters here.
How to apply:
- A short cover letter telling us which topics and niches you've actually scripted and feel most comfortable in.
- Your work: either YouTube links to videos you scripted, or PDF samples that include a live link to the finished video.
- In your cover letter, tell us one long-form YouTube channel you love and why. It tells us a lot about your taste, and it tells us you read this all the way through.
- Please write it yourself. I read every cover letter as if it were another writing sample, so I'm looking for the actual person behind it, not a generic, AI-polished letter that could have been sent to any job posting. A little personality goes a long way!
Looking forward to seeing your work!
Kind regards,
Bella
