Junior Underwriter
About the Job: Apex Bank’s Junior Underwriter primary responsibility is to represent the financial interest of the Bank and our customers. This is accomplished by assisting the Senior Underwriter in analyzing consumer loan applications risks, underwriting and credit recommendations.
· Provide support to all bank personnel in regards to loan products and qualification guidelines.
· Provide support to processing for quality assurance and the collection of required documents prior to and after loan closings.
· Reviewing consumer loan applications for accuracy and completeness and determining product eligibility based on guidelines.
· Preform risk assessment on applications and credit recommendations to senior underwriting.
· Credit review of appraisals to confirm eligibility and correctness.
· Credit review approval on secured & unsecured consumer loan applications.
· Preform qualify assurance reviews on secured and unsecured loan closing documents for underwriting and rate accuracy. Determine the method of income review and calculation.
· Manage the non-real estate loan pipeline starting from the request of documentation to the loan closing. Verify all required documents and conditions have been provided and cleared.
· Complete second reviews of declines and add appropriate declination reasons for HMDA reporting. Identify missed opportunities when presented.
· Reviewing exception requests for accuracy and recommendations to senior underwriting.
· Assist senior underwriting with implementing and enforcing underwriting procedures and guidelines.
· Review loan estimate requests for grading and rate accuracy.
· Analyze purchase & sales contracts to determine eligibility and required underwriting conditions.
· Assist the senior underwriter in the monthly underwriting calls, creating agenda’s and presentation materials.
· Review financial and asset statements to determine qualifying income and funds required to close. Analyze applicant’s tax returns for income trends and analysis.
· Remaining up to date on industry changes and communicating these changes with bank personnel.
· Complete income analysis and credit review to support Loan Officer’s on mortgage pre-approval requests.
